BIG POPPA BIKEs
E-BIKE BUILD PICTURES
CLYDE (The OG)
Build, destroy, rebuild, repeat...This resilient IGH has been relentlessly modded and mercilessly punished for the benefit of future builds. If you see it coming, be warned: stay out of its way! ...unless you want to convert your bike into an ebike.
Bonnie I (RIP)
Built with the request not to change an effing thing from Bafang's OEM specs. Sadly, "700c" Bonnie is no longer with us. The bike was converted back to its original state, and found a new home with a lucky teenager. Its motor was recycled for Bonnie II.
GEON GOTTI
Geon sports a light, low profile 10 Ah battery that suits the bike's lighter weight. Built with a 44T chainring, this is a fast ride: clocked at 35 mph! Last seen dodging reckless car drivers on the dangerous streets of Redondo Beach. La di da di...
ANNE BONNY
Reprieved from a decades long garage imprisonment, this fair maiden of the isles was cleaned up and built with a lightweight 10 Ah battery. Its pictured with a comfortable, wide seat, perfect for long rides.
BUCKEYE BANDIT
A light, steel-tubed classic. Almost as much time was spent restoring its old-school cantilever brakes as installing the motor! Other mods included a softer seat and longer gooseneck for more comfortable rides.
LUCKY LUCIANO
This lightweight MTB had lots and lots of previous trail use. Unfortunately, a frozen bottom bracket nearly thwarted installation of the BBS02B motor. Several Dremel bits later, it now grinds up trails with a 36T chainring and an extended range 14 Ah battery.
BONNIE II
With its motor transplanted from Bonnie I, this bike is tuned for smooth starts and efficient power use. Its frequently seen in the hills and valleys of Ventura County with Clyde.
LIL' MO'
Built for the youngest member of the Big Poppa gang, this trail bike has a 10 Ah battery as a rack mounted option. As to be expected from the new kid on the block, Lil' Mo's throttle gets heavy use!
FLYING DRAGON
With 2.5" wide tires, full-suspension, a folding frame, stow-away handlebars, and dual battery capability, this monster has all the benefits of a fat bike...with better portability. The donor bike's puny 350W hub motor was replaced by the Bafang 1000W BBSHD motor for steep trails.
Bōsōzoku
This veteran triathelete is retrofitted with new braking and gearing systems. For a sleek look, its front derailleur cable guides were modified to hold the ebike motor wiring. A 44T chainring enables lightning fast sorties on the hills and streets of La Crescenta.
